Taylor Mizuno-Moore, ED.D, LCPC

Dr. Taylor Mizuno-Moore is the owner and founder of Mizuno Consulting. She is a queer and biracial (Japanese/American) licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC), organizational consultant, and musician. She is also an Affiliate Professor in the Masters of Counseling program at Northwestern University.

Taylor attended the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). She earned her BA in East Asian Language and Literature from the University of California, Irvine, an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and a Doctorate (EdD) in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California (USC). She also completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at Yale University’s Child Study Center under Dr. Eli Lebowitz and Dr. Wendy Silverman.

With a background as a professional musician, Taylor also enjoys working with artists, musicians, actors, and other creatives, alongside her expertise in LGBTQIA+ identity development and intersectionality. She is a pioneering clinician integrating tattoos and tattoo culture into mental health, exploring their significance in identity and self-expression. Taylor's primary specialty is identity development and how the intersection of our various identifiers frames our understanding of the world. She integrates her clinical training and her organizational psychology education in order to comprehensively approach the analysis of systems. Her research explores the integration of group relations theory and ambient anxiety and its influence on organizational efficiency.

Taylor has served on the Administrative Team and Directorate for the Chicago Group Relations Conference (Tavistock Model) in 2019 and 2020. She is an active member of the Chicago Center for the Study of Groups and Organizations (CCSGO), the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She has presented at the 2023 Sexual Health Alliance (SHA) Conference and has been featured on the Head South Podcast (on intersectionality) and the Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur Podcast (on identity and self-expression in organizations).

In addition to Taylor’s clinical career, Taylor also makes time to prioritize music. Some of Taylor’s highlighted performances include the Hollywood Bowl, John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, Carnegie Hall, the Academy Awards, motion picture & television soundtracks, and touring concerts and workshops in Europe, Japan, and North America. Taylor is a member of the Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund and SAG-AFTRA.
